2010 is approaching!
It's around the corner people! 9 Days and it's the start of a whole new decade! So my questions for discussion are:
1, What are your thoughts on the year just gone? (e.g Highs, Lows, was it a good one?)
2, What do you plan on doing to celebrate the new year?
3, Have you any New Years resolutions? (Things you intend on doing to "better" yourself, but inevitably won't be able to stick to)
This may be a bit soon for people to be thinking about, what with Christmas, Hannukah (hope I spelt that right), etc right now but I'm really interested.
2009 was rather good all in all for me. Had loads of fun meeting new friends, getting to know old ones better, and enjoying the majority of my TSF life. To bring in 2010 I'm having a great big party at my house with friends from the area (and some from Ipswich)(hopefully having an Xbox360 by then) and it should be a blast. As for my resolution.... I'm not sure yet, but I will share once I think of one.

More on my Songwriting
So I looked on the Interwebs for help on songwriting. I found on Wikihow that you should make the lyrics first, and it usually helps if you make a poem to adapt into lyrics. So I've started on some Poetry that I'd like some opinions on.
Can you see into my eyes?
Can you see the truth?
Can you see the sorrow and misery,
besides my love for you?
Do you see this heart which beats?
Beating just for you.
If you should just look away,
it will tear in two.
Please give me your honest opinions =]
EDIT: Third stanza (paragraph for those that don't know)
Can you see these legs of mine?
Quiveling in fear.
I confess my heart and soul to you,
so please lend me your ear.
EDIT 2: Fourth stanza (should be the last for today)
I love you,
I truelly do,
what reason have I to lie?
What can I do,
to prove it's true?
Just please don't say goodbye.

Vultures are awesome, but Songwriting isn't!
On Sunday I went to see Them Crooked Vultures live, at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. They were absolutely awesome! If you've listened to the Studio Album, I reccomend you to listen to the video in the following link: It is much better than the studio version =D
Now I've decided to try and write a song, but it's not doing to well. I didn't realise how hard it would be. Bah, hopefully I can write one by the end of Xmas holidays.

30 Seconds to Them Crooked Vultures! =D
No I have not decided to make a double tribute band. This week has been important because This is War came out at the start of the week, and I'm seeing Them Crooked Vultures in concert to end it =D So yeah not much else to say. This is War is brilliant and easily worth the £10 price tag!
Oh also if you look at my Youtube channel, I uploaded the first Top 5 for this week a day early :P and the seconds will follow later today. Stay tuned!

Update on my Top 5's
As you will know from my last post I started doing Top 5 vids on my Youtube Channel. If you follow my Twitter (www.twitter.com/Nickolied) you will learn when I am making my next one and when to expect it. Music related Top 5's will always be released on a Friday but Video Game ones will be on a Sunday/Monday (varies). Any Top 5's from another genre will be uploaded the day I make them (unless it is very late when I finish it). No one (except people I specifically tell) will know what the next Top 5 is. I have already planned my New Year's special, and will be informing people shortly on details I need from them. But if I tell you, you are not allowed to say anything until it is up! It is to be a surprise every time.

OMG! Return to Youtubing!
Today I have started a brand new project on my Youtube channel. TheAlphaSpyke's Top 5s! Once or Twice weekly I will be making Top 5 videos for my Youtube channel. I started it off with my Top 5 Theory of a Deadman songs. It was originally going to be Foo Fighters songs, but it turned out that it would be a bit of a hassle so I chose an easier one to get done for today. There will be a video every Friday (if I can get it done) and possibly one on Monday's (no promises on that one). My Top 5's will be mainly Music and Video Game based, but you may see me venture into other territories from time to time.
I hope that all goes well for these videos and hope to be giving you a new one next week =D

BBC iPlayer on the Wii!
It's wednesday and nintendo have now released the BBC iPlayer as a Wii channel. Previously to view iPlayer on the Wii you had to use the Wii's internet channel, now BBC have made a version for free download as a channel. It works really well, and streams videos alot faster than Nintendo's own Nintendo Channel. And considering it's free, it's worth the download.

WiiWare Demo Reviews
As promised earlier I will now review the three WiiWare Demos.
First up is BIT.TRIP BEAT.
BIT.TRIP BEAT is a unique spin on the Music Rythm genre. This time instead of using some Plastic Peripheral you hold the WiiMote on it's side like a games control and tilt it to move a PONG paddle on the screen. Meanwhile a bunch of PONG pellets are coming across the screen. It is your job to hit the pellets back to where they came from. Each one you hit is a note in the 8-bit song. Although it's hard to get used to, it is a fun concept. If you do manage to hit to many notes the music will disappear, along with all the colour, and you have to try and hit the notes to come back into it. Think of it as a last chance moment. If you do however manage to crash out in this section, thats the end of the demo. It's a unique twist on the rythm games which dominate the markets now-a-days, which can't go without a try atleast. So this demo is the perfect opertunity!
~TRY IT!~
Next review is of the longest demo, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My life as a Darklord.
This game is similar to a tower defence game, that being that you have to stop enemies getting from point A to point B by putting stuff inbetween. The difference is that instead of using towers to protect point B, you are protecting the tower by placing floors and putting things in them. It is a really fun demo and probably the one I'd want to pay for the most. But it may not be your cup of tea.
~TRY OR BUY IT!~
The final WiiWare demo released is NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits.
This game is set in ancient Greece around the legend of Icarus, the kid who created wings to escape an Island. Basically you play as a girl named Nyx who has wing on her back. You are travelling along to find Icarus. It's a rather short demo, and in my opinion the game is wanting to be too much like Lost Winds, which is a superior game. In my opinion its worth a try, but be perpared to be disappointed.
~TRY OR AVOID IT!~

So I came in from Sixth Form today to see my Wii was indicating a message. I went onto the Message in and it's from Nintendo. Another update I think to myself. Wrong I am, the Wii Shop Channel now offers Demos of WiiWare games! The three games that have started this off are:
~BIT.TRIP BEAT
~Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, My life as a Darklord
~NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits
I will update my Blog later with reviews of the three demos. See ya later!

There's Water on Mars?
OMG! It's Sunday 15th November 2009! And everything is happening tonight. Doctor Who's 2nd of 4 specials this year, The Waters of Mars, is on BBC1 at 7pm tonight. It's going to be great!.
Also, both starting at 9pm is Top Gear's new 7 episode series on BBC2 and over on ITV1 is the new series of I'm a Celebrity. It's going to be a great night of television.
Also at 8pm is the X factor results show, here's hoping that Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum leave tonight. If they kill anymore songs I WILL have them assassinated!

COD:Modern Warfare 2 is released this week =D
And last but not least, My opinion on DJ Hero is slowly changing. But I can't finalise until I actually play it. Favourite mix is probz the We Will Rock You/Robot Rock one.

This week's post
So far this week:
I've been to my cousins and had a game session on their Xbox. We played Halo 3, a short Firefight on Halo 3: ODST, a match on COD5 and some songs on GH:GH. I updated my avatar for their Xbox and gained 120g, making my gamerscore 655g.
I have also been to buy presents for my both my Grandma's as it's there birthdays today and tomorrow.
I am going to be playing my good ol' carnival drums on Halloween in Keswick. Can't remember why but it will be fun.
Also as a small bit at the end of this post I'd like to say what exactly I'd like in terms of games for the Xbox when I (finally) get one:
- Halo 3
- Halo 3: ODST
- Forza 3
- Fable 2
- Fallout 3: Game of the Year edition
- Brutal Legend
That's all for now, so see ya!

Nintendo News and Youtube update!
Today Nintendo have sent out an update for the Wii Shop Channel which allows you to claim your free 500 Wii Points NES game if you are one of the people to have purchased the Internet channel when it cost 500 Wii Points. I chose to get Super Mario Bros. Why? It's a classic!
Also in the Wii Shop Channel update, Nintendo revealed a new feature of the Wii Shop channel. Connection Ambassadors. With this Wii owners who already have a internet connection on their Wii can register other peoples friend codes who they have helped to get one for themselves. You get 500 Wii Points for each person you help (the person helped will also get this 500 Wii Points). When you help 10 people you can download any NES virtual console game for free (any you have already purchased will be made available to send to one person for free). Then when you help 20 people you can download any NES, SNES and N64 virtual console game for free. Sounds like a good scheme, unfortunately it isn't one I can really make use of on account anyone I know with a Wii has already established an internet connection more than a month ago.
Finally in my own Youtube news, I am having trouble recording playthroughs on account I can't get the sound to work properly, I will keep trying, but no promises.

Youtube and Guitar!
Gasp, I have an idea of what to do on my Youtube page! I am going to start playthroughs of some games I can get on my PC. I am thinking of starting with Quake. Not sure yet though, if you have a suggestion please say in the comments below.
Also I'm going to learn R-Evolve - 30 Seconds to Mars on my guitar starting tomorrow. Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to learn, so fingers crossed. Just gotta find some tab first =]
Other than that I can't think of much else to say, so see ya later!

Brutal Legend!
Brutal Legend is the newest game from designer Tim Shafer. In it Eddie Riggs, the world's best roadie (voiced by Jack Black), is crushed by a stage prop while touring with the world's worst Rock band, Kabbage Boy. Eddie is then transported into a nordic world inspired by Heavy metal album covers. In this world Humans have been overthrown by Demons and Eddie is thought of by other Humans as "the chosen one".
Basically with your broad axe "The Seperator", your magical flying-V guitar "Clementine" and your heavy metal, self built, hot-rod "The Deuce" a.k.a "The Druid Plow", you control Eddie and defeat the head honcho of the demons, Doviliculus (Tim Curry).
Brutal Legend features celebrities such as Jack Black, Ozzy Osbourne and Lemmy from Motorhead. Each of which providing their voices and appearences to the game. Brutal Legend also contains a music setlist larger than any of the Guitar Heroes or Rock Band's, all for your listening pleasure.

Band Hero & DJ Hero - Why I don't like them
Guitar Hero. Say that name and anyone who hasn't been living under a rock for the last few years knows what you mean. It is one of my personal favourite Game series, which for the most part has gotten better as time goes by. But Activison aren't happy appealing to all the rock lovers in the world. They need to "entertain" the rest of the music listening and game playing population. So they have been developing 2 new games following the Guitar Hero format. DJ Hero and Band Hero.
DJ Hero is Activisions attempt to appeal to the "dance" genre of music taste. Or as I pretty much call them, Chavs. It is a good idea, don't get me wrong. It's just they apparently have that many genres of mixes anyone would want to play. After looking at the setlist, I only like one song listed (Gorrilaz - Feel Good Inc.) and it's mixed with a song I don't know, and would probably hate. Also if they have included songs from every genre, then people are going to be playing the same 5-10 songs all the time. This is why I liked the setlist for GHWT, it was a large list that stuck closely to the same genre. So I had more to play.
Band Hero on the other hand sticks very close to the formula that was made in GH5. Using the existing 4 music peripherals and the any combination gameplay. Good so far. But upon looking at the setlist, I nearly had a fit. They are all Pop songs! I have a feeling that most people who buy this are going to want to sing, because most of the songs don't seem to emphasise on the instruments, bad judgement Activision. Then they are also releasing this on DS, along with a Drum pad so DS lite (and only DS lite) owners can play drums on it also. Now these songs are supposed to be the same style as the console version. Wrong again. This is all the sort of things we have had before on the GH: On Tour series. Arrgh, Activison, Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters is nowhere near the same as Love Story by Taylor Swift!
Rant over now. Too be honest I just felt like writing something so there actually was a post today. But this is how I honestly feel about the games. And of the 3 (counting the DS Band Hero as a seperate game) the only one I would even consider buying is the DS Band Hero. Last words to Activision: Don't "fix" what isn't broke! Guitar Hero has sold increasingly better over time dispite it being the same music genre, and dropping it for Band Hero is a stupid move!

I'm so Proud!
Tonight is the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards and I'm going to comment along with it. For those who don't know these awards are given to those who have done acts of bravery or beyond all expectations.
So starting off the Awards are Diversity. Wow they get around! I can't seem to find a show/channel they haven't been on.
After Diversity finished their little thing, Carol Vorderman comes up to the stage to begin presenting. She talks about all the great supportive people in the sudience and then makes a joke about Simon Cowell, Before going into a Montage about what the pride of britain awards are about.
First award: A Man gets an award for stopping on the hard shoulder of the motorway, crossing over to a car that had crashed on the fast lane and saving first the Mother and Baby, and then going back to save the injured Father and the 3 year old son.
Thoughts: Wow, brave guy! I don't think I would have the guts to cross a busy Motorway at Night.
Second Award: An 11 year old boy caught Leukemia and went into a coma after the first Theropy session. When he final pulled through he was paralyzed and had to recover. Upon his recovery he decided to help the Hospital who had helped him with fundraising and public speaking. During his illness he made a Video Diary to help other people know that everything will get better.
Thoughts: Well done.
Third Award: A soldier stationed in Afghanistan was on duty and got word of a possible Suicide Bomber heading his way on a Motorbike. Moments later he heard the click of a detonator and immediately acted to avoid the bomb exploding and harming anyone. (Sorry if any of these details are wrong, was short clip.)
Thoughts: Brave guy, pride to the MoD and Army.
Fourth Award: A Woman went to Doctors to be checked for breast cancer and was reassured of not having it. So she went on a working holiday and returned 6 months later. When she got back it was worse and got checked again. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and a week later diagnosed with secondary cancer. Her cancer is currently at an advanced stage but deals with it with a sense of humour. Launched nationwide campaign within 2 months of diagnosis.
Thoughts: Brilliant example of someone willing to help others despite their own circumstances.
Fifth Award: 8 year old girl contracted an extremely bad strain of Meningitis when 4 months old. The doctors told her mum they would have to amputate her legs. Recently, she has had to face bullying because of her prosthetic legs. And started Karate to boost her confidence.

She has used that to shape her life and works against forced marriages.

Overall Thoughts: Well done to everyone who recieved awards, you are all truelly inspirational and deserve your awards.
Thats all for the awards, this will probably be one of the longest Blog posts I ever make, but oh well.

We are the Kings and Queens!
30 Seconds to Mars have released their new single to the American Radio Stations. It is titled Kings and Queens. (Hence the title of this Blog Post) My personal reaction to it is one word: EPIC! Loved all of 30STM's old songs but this takes the Cheese and Biscuits, and throws them in the bin. It is that good to me. Here is a link to the first Youtuber I found to have uploaded it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpHFC79awWo
I really recommend a listen, it's like nothing heard before! If this is how good the first single is gonna be, I can't wait for the freaking album!
Bring on This is War!

Random Scribble No.1
Hey, thought I'd give Blogging another go. Some may know I have tried in the past, but I gave up. So I decided to start again. Basically my Blog will consist of whatever I decide to put on it. This will range from Game news to My life. I will try to update daily, but it will more likely be 3 or 4 times a week.
Anyway this is Scribbling No.1 and it's just how I'm opening this blog, nothing news related or anything.
I have got Twitter for those who wish to follow me: www.twitter.com/TheAlphaSpyke
That's all for now, see ya.
*Note* Posts before this were from my old Blog

Weirdest Dream in a long time
Right so basically after not posting here in goodness knows how long I'm going to post about a dream. Don't like it? Deal with it!
So basically the Dream starts off with me boarding a double decker bus on my way home from school. Nothing wrong with that you say? Wrong. My bus route has never had a double decker, wanna know why? Two slightly low bridges along the route prevent that from even being a possibility. Okay back to the dream. Next I sat down on the the top of the double decker and it was packed. Then one of the twins that I know appeared out of no where and started to chat with me. But when this happened everyone else on the top deck of the bus disappeared. Weird. Anyway she then commenced to ask me something about Drums. Which would be fine if it weren't for what she said. She asked about something that happened at the last drum practise. Yet she hasn't been to practise for weeks. Weird again. Now, before this I had a slightly weird dream where I bought a bottle of Vimto from a corner shop I have never seen before. (and in fact doesn't exist) I went to open this on the bus and found it was water. And then trying to make conversation with my friend started to explain how I had bought Vimto yet currently held water. Which failed as it sounded like I was pissed off my head. Now for the final act of weird before me waking up. As I mentioned before my friend is a twin. Seconds after my failed attempt at explaining the Vimto her twin came and sat beside me. In her hand she held a envelope and started to right on it my name then my brothers name and then "and family". I open the envelope and the dream is other as I have woke up. Now the weird part of that is there is no reason for her to have been giving me a card, also the fact that she appeared out of nowhere, also the fact that I have NEVER seen them ride on the bus because they live a short walk away from school.
So what do y'all think? Is there some kinda message my mind is trying to give me?
I will admit that I have had a crush on the first twin in the past if that helps with any message theories. Please tell me your thoughts (if possible via Twitter (My current Twitter is: TheAlphaSpyke))

Today
I feel like updating again. So about today. I had the same old boring lessons as normal. Although my ICT was cut in half because of Trial GCSE German Oral tests. (Don't even go there, I don't make the names) Also I had a decent teacher covering my German class, he let us listen to our iPods etc whilst we worked. Yay! ^-^ I drew a Poster Idea for my GCSE Graphic Products Project of Mario about 10 minutes ago. I think it is good.
Anywho I wish to get a game this weekend since I completed Sonic and the Black Knight so fast. What should I get?
A Devil May Cry game (can only get 1-3)
Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Sonic Riders Zero Gravity
Other
I really can't decide.
Well That's all for now, feel free to follow me on Twitter: nickdug92

Hi - Sonic Games Rant included
Well here is my first actual Blog post, and I have somthing to share with you. It is my opinions on Modern Sonic Games in relation to the originals. It is a quote of what I wrote on The Sonic Factory Forums so it may not make immediate sense.
"I believe that the Sonic games are just as good as, if not better than, they have always been. The original Sonic games (Sonic 1, 2 and 3+K) have lasted my life time and I find them fun to play still. Adventure 1 & 2 I can't cast an opinion on as I haven't played them. All of the most recent games I have found fun (only exception being '06 since I couldn't grasp the controls and found it frustrating). Personally the fact that SEGA make more characters and think up new gimmicks makes me want to play the new ones more. Sure some of the Gimmicks didn't turn out well for some but the actual games are as good as ever. The 2 most recent gimmicks, Sonic Unleashed (Were-hog) and Sonic and the Black Knight (Sonic with a Sword) work. In Black Knight they got the gimmick to gameplay ratio right as it feels natural to play the game. Unleashed however they over done the gimmick in my opinion. They included to many Werehog levels for my liking which took the enjoyment away slightly. But that doesn't mean I want them to avoid the gimmicks. By them making new games with different gimmicks it keeps true fans of the entire Sonic franchise on their toes as to what will happen next. It also keeps the franchise fresh and fun to play. If they had continued creating games like the originals then people would be complaining that they are all the same. You can't win with some people. But SEGA have coped for those who want games like the originals with the majority of the handheld games like the Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush games. These stick true to the originals so anyone who complains about the gimmicks go play these games because they are so close to the originals you could easily mistake them for just having upto date graphics."
I got right in there when writing it because my heart was in it.
Anyway I have been talking to the lovely Alex today and just thought of something I can leave you pondering about. Why are Hiccups so Annoying?
New Blog! New Blog!
I have mades a new blog today but I will not be writing much in this post since I am going to school shortly so tata for now.
